Just out of curiosity, Thomas brought one of the terminals across the hall to the circuit room and connected it to the Mintel router. He had to cut wires to manually connect the terminal to the router, however, a minute after he did so he felt his pocket buzz. He initially ignored it because he was locked in to the current task at hand.
Then it occurred to him that in order for his Mini-phone to work the network had to have been restored. He ecstatically pulled out his phone and opened it to make sure that it was correct and he had restored the Mintel for the entire globe. By simply connecting an original terminal to the network, the entire system rebooted and was able to restart. After this incredible feat, Thomas realized he no longer wanted to be an English teacher and was given the opportunity to be a part of Minitel’s United States branch, where he could put his computer science skills to work to make sure there is never another Minitel blackout.
